Stop H.R. 7- American Energy and Infrastructure Jobs Act of 2012

This bond requirement, if successfully implemented by its advocates, would not only be a blow to small brokers ? but also to any owner-operator who needs/wants to broker a single load/year!

This bond requirement, if successfully implemented by its advocates, would not only be a blow to small brokers ? but also to any owner-operator who needs/wants to broker a single load/year!

Found buried in pages 525-538 are the latest attempts to increase the bonding requirement to $100,000 again. This time to take place within 1 year of its passage. There are also other provisions requiring carriers to get their own brokers authority even if they broker 1 load a year and of course the largest brokers in the country posts the same bond as the carrier brokering 1 load a year.

This bill would again price the vast majority of brokers out of the market and could best be titled the ?No Jobs Act? if it passes.

As we are champions of the ?little guys?, we want to create some noise about this and to implore Congress to champion the "little guys" as well. Not only will this bill drive out the small carriers, it will create a monopoly for the largest companies in the industry where they will even be able to control the costs to shippers.
