Step Up, So Others Won't Get Stepped On
We can't sit back any longer, and let the bullies win. They are taking power away from our children, and the longer we allow it to continue, we are just as guilty. Our children are loosing faith in the authorities, if they try and reach for help. The current laws that are set in place for Bullying/Cyberbullying, are very vague, and there is no accountability by these children and or parents who do so. Cyberbullies often hide behind screen names and email addresses that don’t identify who they are. Not knowing who is responsible for bullying messages can add to a victim’s insecurity.

As parents, we are made to feel helpless and weak if we speak up. We need to come out of hiding and step up for ALL kids. Instead of sharing crisis lines and information after something devastating, we need to get new laws into place, and enforce them. As parents, we can talk and share things that happen, but unless we let our voices heard, nothing will change.
Under the H.B. 1067, 2008: 24 Pennsylvania Statutes §1303.1-A requires schools to have an antibullying policy, but what good is it doing if its not enforced?
Please, for the sake of our children, stand up, and sign to let Congress know that we need the bills on the table instead of sitting there. We need stricter laws against these bullies, and those who are not taking responsibility after a report is made.
