Say "No" to Conrad-Gregg

Say "No" to Conrad-Gregg it is flawed !

I am deeply concerned about the Conrad-Gregg amendment that has been recently introduced, and am writing to urge you to vote "no" on this amendment.

While I support balanced policies that would address the nation's long-term debt, the fiscal taskforce established by the Conrad-Gregg amendment is not the answer. The issues that the fiscal commission is meant to address including taxes, health care costs and the long-term solvency of Social Security are among the most fundamental challenges we face as a nation. As such, they are issues that Congress itself, through its regular order, should tackle.

An open debate is essential in a representative democracy to resolve issued that have as broad and deep an impact on its citizenry as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security and tax changes.

As you work with your fellow decision makers to resolve our nation's long-term fiscal challenges, I urge you to vote "no" on the Conrad-Gregg amendment or any bill that bypasses or short circuits the protections afforded by full and open debate in Congress.
