Safety-Of-Flight: Aerospace Coatings Applicator Certification Requirement

Make aircraft travel safer with technically certified coatings applicators.

Unlike the FAA requirement for Air frame and Power plant mechanics to have verified technical training to ensure that safety-of-flight concerns are met, there are no such requirements for aircraft paint/coatings applicators to have any FAA specified training or formal certification to verify their knowledge, skills, and abilities. The aforementioned condition creates tremendous technical deficits within the aerospace manufacturing and maintenance sectors that lead to safety-of-flight issues. The coatings process in aerospace is highly technical, and process failures lead to air frame structural failures which can and have caused planes to crash and people have died. There needs to be legislation that requires aerospace coatings applicators to become certified through accredited learning institutions.
