Maybe we can get Dr. Temple Grandin to help the horses the way she helped cattle...Oct 6th, 2011Someone from Tonopah, NV writes:
I have seen with my own eyes horses suffering (eventually ending in long painfull death) in the hands of people who are not slightly educated in owning horses. They take them cause they LOVE horses, yet they completely neglect them, leaving them to fend for themselves They take these horses because the current owners have nowhere to go with them. This has got to change for the sake of the horse.REPORT COMMENTS

Anyone who cares about the welfare of horses should be willing to sign on this petition! It is past time for our national leaders to act on this issue!REPORT COMMENTS

this is why millions of horses are not being taken care of and why so many are abandoned. Did we have this problems when the slaughter houses were open? Probably not so much. This is a humane way of taking away a horses pain rather than watching it turn into skin and bones because no one can care for it.REPORT COMMENTS

Shutting down the slaughter houses has also negatively affected the animals. If you had to choose feeding your family or your horses, you'd choose family. This is what the law has done to horsemen. I have a long list of pros for the horse slaughter industry and none for closing the slaughter houses. Other countries do eat horsemeat. This is such a waste of resources and time; and a financial burden to everyone. If the horse had not been domesticated in the first place it may have been extinct by now; with it's poor reproduction and...everything eats it! People have improved the welfare of the animal, and the prospects for a future of the species. No one is going to keep a 1200 lb animal as a pet. If we do not reverse this law, the only place you'll be able to see a horse is in the zoo or museum. What a shame!REPORT COMMENTS
