Restore Congressional Authority over Tarriffs

Our Constitution establishes three branches of government. In theory, they should compete for power as equals. However, Congress has delegated its power to the President in many areas, including the power to set tariffs. For example, the Trade Act, the Trade Expansion Act, and others delegate Congress' power to establish tariffs to the President. This is neither wise nor necessary. Our representatives should debate and vote before tariffs are set rather than allowing one individual to drastically affect our globally-connected economy.

Therefore, I ask that you support and introduce legislation requiring a vote in both houses of Congress before tariffs can be established.
