Protection for Employment Age Discrimination for People over 60

To get Congress and the President to enact into law requiring proof by companies that they do not discriminate in their employment practices against people over 60 years of age.

Age Discrimination although illegal is alive and well and practiced by many if not most companies in their hiring practices. Unfortunately as the laws currently stand, the discriminated individual but show proof of discrimination in a court of law in order to get justice. The companies easily skirt the law by justifying not hiring someone over 60 because of a lack of culture fit rather than their age. Today some companies although not asking for your age or date of birth on an application instead ask the date of your college graduation which makes it easy for them to guess your age. Companies can easily search google to identify your age. I propose that Congress pass legislation, to which the President should sign that would require proof by a company on an annual basis to the IRS that they actively recruit, hire and employ persons over the age of 60. This proof should come in the form of annual reports of persons over 60 who applied, who were interviewed, who were hired, and who are currently employed by the company. This number should not include corporate executives. These reports should be compared to the number of persons over 60 who live within 50 miles of each of the companies locations. If the company's percentage of employees over 60 compared to their total employee population does not equal to the % of people over 60 within 50 miles of the companies locations then the company should be fined an amount equal to difference in the two above percentages of their total income for that year.

Congress, the President and others keep suggesting the way to save Social Security is to raise the age of full retirement. If you do that without correcting this issue with age discrimination then you pushing folks over 60 into welfare and poverty. Please address this issue as soon as possible to force companies to hire the very qualified, very experienced and very able with decades of know how.
