Protect Access to Higher Education
We call on United States Congress and Trump Administration to protect access to Higher Education in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA).
Congress and President Trump should REJECT and PREVENT the following proposals:
-Taxation of graduate tuition waivers as earned income
-Elimination student loan interest from tax deductions
-Elimination of the Lifetime Learning Credit
-Any future legislation that will harm access to higher education
No person should be unable to attend either graduate or undergraduate programs because of a financial lacking. The proposed tax changes would drastically decrease enrollment and participation in college by increasing financial burdens to an unmanageable level.
There is no logical reason to tax PhD, Masters, and Undergraduate students who will grow the economy, advance scientific research, and push for cultural progress.
