Please provide EADs to Skilled immigrants who have approved I-140s and stayed more than 6 years in US.
Skilled immigrants are waiting for filing Adjustment Of Status (AOS) petition (Form I-485) for more than 15 years! Tens of thousands of tax paying, law-abiding skilled immigrants are stuck in waiting queue for decades.
America is said to be land of immigrants with fairness. But the current system is making us to believe, groups of vested interests like greedy employers, immigration lawyers, successfully created a high-tech slavery system, which did not give any rights to the immigrant. They cannot change the jobs, they cannot make progress in their careers, their children cannot leave them even after 21 years, their children cannot apply for National Merit Scholarships, etc. Due to these reasons, many skilled immigrants are already started to migrate to other countries like Canada, Australia etc.
Equality in theory, inequality in practice! This is not the America we dreamed about!
Per-country quotas restrict individuals from any single country seeking to come to the U.S. to no more than 7 percent of the green cards available in any category in any year. This restriction favors those from small countries at the expense of those from larger ones. By treating nationality as the relevant factor, countries like India, China and Philippines are treated equally with smallest countries like Luxembourg!
A better system would treat immigrants equally as people, not as representatives from countries. It would be a first come, first serve process where immigrants move through the lines based on when they applied, not where they applied from.
So, I urge congress to - please provide EADs to Skilled immigrants who have approved I-140s and stayed more than 6 years. This will NEITHER enable these skilled immigrants to apply for employment benefits NOR will it cost to the government.
