Petition to require training for police on non lethal force to subdue suspects or civilians instead of killing unarmed, deaf, disabled or socially inept people
There is another way to stop a person than killing them dead
Thank you for your time in reading. Due to the upsurge in violence caused by our law enforcement officers, the people of America now are residing in a police state. It's as if we are dealing with local terrorism instead of being protected and served by the officers who have sworn to help us and keep us safe as a society. There have been countless, even undocumented killings of small children who lay sleep in their beds and instances of people who are deaf mute or non english speaking being killed due to lack of training, knowledge and empathy by officers.
In European countries, the officers do not carry firearms. We know that we do not live in a society where we can banish the firearms our officers carry. But there should certainly be bi-annual psychiatric evaluations completed on a nonbiased platform, along with training to consider the diversity of our country's melting pot. No one person is the same. If customer service agents must undergo this training, why do our officers not have to? There is another way to subdue or halt an individual without using deadly force. This should be the norm in all cities, not an exception based on cultural, socioeconomic and racial bias or preference.
