If we would not allow our horses to be sent out of the country for slaughter, that would relieve the horrible suffering the horses experience when they are slaughtered. Horses are NOT raised as "food animals". Slaughter facilities were NOT designed to kill long-necked animals like horses, & therefore, MANY horses are STILL aware & conscious, & STILL capable of FEELING agonizing pain, as they are rendered & cut apart!!!! They are basically being butchered ALIVE!! There is NO "humane" method to slaughter horses, &, THIS is NOT "the answer" to a nonexistant "problem" of "abandoned, neglected" horses. The REAL problems are all the greedy, irresponsible horse breeders that contribute to the "throw away, excess, over-population", that is the horse industry! This is NOT to say all horse breeders are bad, they know who they are.PLEASE support H.R. 503. Our horses do not deserve this awful fate, after all they've done for us.
