No to Back Childsupport/Equal Rights for Fathers

Child support is needed for the welfare are each and every child. The current Child support laws in the state of Florida and around the U.S are unfair and unjust for the father and child alike. They only affect the good fathers who are trying to make a living and support their kids. Not the bad ones who don't care about the consequences if they don't pay.

At the same time Fathers paternity rights are also unjust and unfair to the father and to the child or children they support.

We, Real Fathers of America propose that congress step in and change the current child support enforcement laws that effect the non custodial parent. and make parental rights for fathers and mothers equal even if they are not married.

CHILD SUPPORT PROPOSAL

1.No back child support. - If a father can prove that he has been supporting his child then the courts should not be able to impose back child support in any form. The reason its unfair to the parent is because it automatically puts the non custodial parent in a cycle of debt that's nearly impossible to get out of. This in no way shape of form benefits the child if the non custodial parent is financially destroyed in the process of enforcement.

2. Flexibility in the enforcement process- For the non custodial parent who is at least striving to pay the order and who may make their payments but not always on time. A late fee should be added to the total amount owed but they should not be subjected to license suspension based on their inability to pay on time. License suspension should only be for the non custodial parent who does not pay at all.

Equal Fathers Rights

1. Even if the father and mother are not married the father (once paternity is establish) Should automatically have equal rights to his child as the mother does. Currently most states automatically give full rights to the mother. Where as the father has to petition the courts to have his rights to his children. This creates a divide between the father and his child, thus creating unhealthy relationships between father child and mother, usually putting the child in the middle.

It is important for a child to have their mother and father in their lives. As long as either parent are not a danger or irresponsible toward the child. It is in the child's best interest to be raised by both parents and to spend equal time with each parent. it's also important for each parent to have equal say on things involving the welfare of the child when the child is with either parent.

We call on Congress to pass a bill that will address these concerns and that will also enrich the lives of children in the country. This bill should also change the negative narrative and position the fathers of this country face.
