Respect is a two-way street. The citizens of this country will not have faith in the integrity of members of Congress to fairly represent them, as long as members of Congress use the floors of government to lie and distort the truth.

The signatories to this petition ask that Congress enact new rules at the beginning of the next Congressional session and those sessions to follow that lying or distorting the truth on the floors of Congress is disrespectful to the voters and those rules will include exceptional monetary penalties for those who disrespect the voters by engaging in this activity.

When we hold our politicians to "thou shalt not tell a lie," we will be taking a very big step toward democracy and away from partisanship.
