New Bill to Protect Va Compensation From Child Support
Veterans compensation around the world are being included in child support as income when those funds are clearly for the veteran to survive. Child Support is double dipping into Veterans pay garnishing 1 disability income which is social security that only leaves little for the veteran to live off, then child support comes after the Veterans compensation by the department of Veterans affairs unfairly adding it as income on child support creating these high support amounts especially in California. Knowing that the cost of living is high and we are on a set income every month with a family to support. In damaging the veteran creating high arrears amounts making it difficult for the veteran to survive with liens, license suspension, negative credit reporting, and excessive fines to pay by being caught driving on a suspended license unknowingly suspended by DCSS. Us Veterans need relief from these laws that are created to financially keep us in poverty. There aren't programs to help with arrears, but onlyif child support is sought by the state from the mothers or fathers being on welfare. Us married Veterans that are in this position cannot get approved for home loans or extended credit to create a means for life for our families we are raising because of the unjust child support laws.
