National Plagiocephaly & Torticollis Awareness Day

Messages Sent So Far
Please join Alexandra's P.H.A.T.E., a nonprofit run by and for families of infants affected by Plagiocephaly & Torticollis, in educating your constituents that March 20th is National Plagiocephaly & Torticollis Awareness Day. Our main objective, with this national campaign, is to educate American Families regarding the prevalence and seriousness of these conditions.

The number of infants diagnosed with flat spots on the head (plagiocephaly) and tight neck muscles (torticollis) have been on the rise in America. Recent studies cite incidence rates of plagiocephaly as high as 48%, and one study cites a six-fold increase in rates of incidence, increasing from 1 in 300 infants to 1 in 60.

Infants diagnosed with flat head syndrome may have additional problems in the future, including: increased risk for learning delays, increased need for special services at school age, TMJ issues, scoliosis, visual problems (such as visual field defects, astigmatism, auditory problems, psychological), and/or social issues.

With your support, we can increase awareness about plagiocephaly and torticollis and spread the word about the importance of prevention, early detection, and treatment of these conditions.

My cousin's son had this, and had to wear the helmet. It is a real problem that affects many children.
