Mandating drug testing for welfare recipiants

Tax payers should't have to pay for an illegal drug habit

There has been a debate for years on whether to mandate drug testing for individuals seeking public assistance. Testing should not only be done, but we should be obligated to report drug misuse when applying for welfare. Many people argue that doing so would be against our 4th amendment right as a citizen of the United States. My response is, just because you have a "right" to something doesn't mean you deserve it. That right was given to us as Citizens it was not earned. For the citizens who are working and "earning" their right it doesn't seem fair to have their hard earned dollars taken away for taxes. And then in turn being given to a drug addicted welfare recipient. It would seem that money would be better spent in rehabilitating drug users and making them more marketable in the workplace, thus making them more self sufficient and not needing welfare.
