Make Child Support Laws in favor of Military Members

It is absolutely disgusting how child support "guidelines" are merely used as a way for greedy vindictive ex spouses to make the non custodial parents lives miserable. I guarantee that the majority of the cases that go to court for more money have little to do with the children and more with the custodial parents unhappiness, laziness, self entitlement and hatred towards the non custodial parent.

There should be a baseline for what the cost of caring for a child is. That should include food, clothing, education, medical and shelter. Both parents should be responsible for half of that. It should end there. It should not matter what either parent makes. If the non custodial parent makes a substantial amount of money due to dedication and initiative, he/she should not be penalized for it. If the custodial parent chooses to not be dedicated and not have initiative to build a better life for him/herself and the children, he/she should not be rewarded for it. It's that simple.

So then why does our government encourage looking into every cent the non custodial parent is earning such as allowances paid to offset the cost of living abroad (COLA) and allowances paid to maintain serviceable uniforms (clothing allowance), and then advises the custodial parent that he/she deserves a portion of that? Why is our government encouraging self entitlement, greed and laziness? What's worse is, why is government allowing the courts to use a military members service obligations against him/her in determining custody? Does the congress not care enough to put an end to this? Is there no real financial benefit for congress to want to change the current laws?

The argument has been that the children are privy to the same standard of living as the non custodial parent. If that is the case, why are the children then not living with the parent that will provide a higher standard of living? Instead, the custodial parent is compensated with more of the non custodial parents' income.

It is absolutely appalling that this is how we take care of the men and women that are working hard and making sacrifices to be financially independent and serve their country. We take away their motivation to be as successful and dedicated as they can be while we motivate self entitled, trifling, careless, greedy people to continue being financially dependent on others and eventually the government, because child support is not a permanent solution their lack of work ethic. Is that the definition of the American Dream? Compensate those that want a handout and dismiss those that work hard?
