Leniency for Felons
Allow Felons a Chance to become productive Citizens.
I have to write about this disgusting problem we have in our state of TEXAS and all across America. But, you have the power in our state to try to change some things. Democrats are considered the group of people that want an even playing field for all. Right-winged; Republicans have so many strong-holds, beliefs, and morals on things and a lot of it comes from a Christian value base. So, how can we allow people not to get second chances? What about the value of forgiveness? I think when we don't allow a felon to become a productive member in society by defiling his record for past mistakes is an injustice to our society and to them. How can one break a cycle if they are constantly reminded of it? I know people that learned their lessons and now they are trying their hardest to do the right things. They are trying to go out and find employment and their attitudes are no different than any other productive human beings about life. But, every time they go out there is a big bear on their shoulders that is weighing them down and its their record. Maybe we can try looking at the actual age and mental structure of the person at the time they committed the crime oh wait..that's what jail/rehabilitation was supposed to do right? The laws and employment structure on this is basically telling people that they have no chance to get it right because of mistakes. If these people have at least went 3 years with nothing on their records I think they deserve to have a certain classification in their record that deems them safe to employ, get rentals, and HAVE A NORMAL LIFE AGAIN!!! It is terrible and we need something done about it. Stop worrying about the money and think about the people. Because if we had more ex-felons able to open businesses, get employment, and get out of crime then we will have a better growth in our economy. You can't expect crime to stop or change by keeping someone on that same walk of life because they are just trying to survive. This needs to go to Congress and things need to change whether republican or democrat.
