Klobuchar Bill

Help families who adopted internationally become eligible for the same government programs as those who adopted domestically.

Senator Amy Klobuchar has proposed legislation which would help families who adopt children internationally.

Sen. Klobuchar is asking that families who adopt children from overseas be offered the same services as families who adopt domestically. These post-adoption services include: family/adjustment/crisis counseling, educational training, adoptive family support groups, resource library, and scholarships.

Families who have adopted from abroad need the same services as other adoptive families.

Though these children where not born in the US, they automatically become American citizens at the completion of the adoption and deserve the same rights and privileges as their domestically adopted counterparts.

Klobuchar has said the bill will not have an impact on the federal budget since it would only provide wider access to an existing stream of funding.

Klobuchar's bill would also mandate that statistics be collected on international adoptions.

I am asking you to support this bill. Adopted children, no matter where they come from, have a special set of needs. They, their families, their communities, and their nation would benefit from the passage of this legislation.
