Justice for Non-Violent Drug Offenders
Dear fellow Americans,
Good day! My question is this: why are we incarcerating non violent drug offenders for over 5 years when health professionals agree that the brain returns to normal 18-24 months after drug use? Why are these people, our people, who have families that love and miss them, being given all of this extra time? Who benefits from this? Absolutely nobody benefits! There has to be a better solution to drug addiction, incarceration for an extended amount of time is not the best solution. Non - violent drug offenders should be and could be a benefit to society. I’m asking you to reconsider limiting incarceration to 24 months for all of the non violent drug offenders in all states of the US. Thank you for your consideration.
