Insecticides are killing bees AND harming health

Bees are critical

Why are we subsidizing things that are now scientifically proven to be unhealthy and addictive (i.e. sugar) and doing nothing for beekeepers? Why are we allowing people to stick their head in the sand regarding the link between insecticides and the death of bees? There are countless articles out there that explain the issue better than I can articulate - here is one of many summarizing the situation:

America is a land of great agricultural means. Our ability to produce crops is under a dire threat, and yet we are allowing lobbyists to keep insecticides in use that poison people (insecticides are increasingly being linked to autoimmune conditions in humans) AND are killing off the bees that are crucial to pollination.

"Neonicotinoids are the [emphasis added] cause of colony collapse disorder(CCD). The study showed that 50% of colonies populated by bees who had been in contact with these pesticides collapsed, compared to only 1 in 6 who were not in contact with neonicotinoids."

"If we don?t seriously stop this soon, then a corporation like Monsanto would likely take advantage of the lack of bees to pollinate and create fruit, and attempt to monopolize the products of nature because the fruits will then require individual, manual pollination or more complex measures."

You are not beholden to Monsanto. You are beholden to the health and safety of your constituents - and our food supply is under a dire threat that is not being addressed in the least.
