This bill will do more harm to the poor and middle class (if we still have one) than to the rich. Those of us who live from paycheck to paycheck, and are already being charged in every way possible by our banks fees for not having a minimum amount in our accounts, or bouncing all checks when only a penny is overdrawn. Since retirement, social security, and other benefits come electronically, the 1% charge will add up quickly and reduce the amount people will have for survival. This is not a healthy way to reduce the national, or state deficit. Increasing the GDP and reducing government spending makes more sense than charging 1% from the unemployed, handicapped and retired.
