H.R. 2454

DEFEAT THE WAXMAN MARKEY ENERGY PLAN (aka Cap & Trade)

We are writing to you today to let you know how average Americans feel about H.R. 2454 also known as the Waxman Markey Energy Plan. Congress shouldn?t be looking for ways to increase American?s taxes or utility bills in a time of financial crisis. You should be opening the way for more domestic oil and natural gas production and should seriously attempt to ease the regulatory barriers for building much needed clean burning nuclear power plants. The climate bill that passed the House today, which promotes capping releases of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases would lead to much higher energy costs and would really accomplish very little to counter global warming if other nations do not act as well. Supporters of this bill counter that statement with the notion that the increased costs can be minimized. This is flat out ridiculous. America needs an energy plan that calls for more domestic oil and natural gas exploration, renewed commitment to clean emission-free nuclear energy, investments in renewable and alternative energy technologies and incentives to spur greater conservation among individuals and businesses. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., seems to think that the anyone who disagrees with her and her Democratic friends about the bill are simply practicing "the same tired policies embraced" by former President George W. Bush "at a time when Americans are seeking new solutions to rebuild our economy and break our dependence on foreign energy sources."

Well we have a message to Speaker Pelosi and the rest of Congress; Stop " Waxman Markey Energy Plan " dead in its tracks ? now. If this bill passes the Senate, the April 15th Tea Parties will look like a family picnic compared to what will happen. We will remember you in 2010 and your failure to act on behalf of the American people. We urge you to act swiftly.
