Help Prevent A Young Man\'s Deportation

Jorge has been living here since he was a child, now he is in the process of deportation to a country where he has no relatives.

Should people really have to pay the rest of their life for one mistake they've done?

Jorge Castaneda has been living in Chicago, IL since 1996 at the age of 8. He has attended elementary school, and graduated high school. Jorge was currently supporting himself working at a tire shop while managing to save up money to attend college.

In March of 2009, 20yrs old, he was having a small get-together at his apartment and having a few drinks. It was late at night when one of his friends had to go home. Not realizing he had a few too many, he made the youthful mistake by deciding to drive his friend home.

He got in a small accident. He hit a fence, no one was hurt.

On his way to the police station, Jorge became really anxious. The fact that he had been drinking didn't help. He asked the police officer to pull over because he felt like vomiting. The officer refused to, Jorge vomited in the police vehicle. The police officer then became angry and punched Jorge in the mouth while the officer's partner hit him with his baton. We have images and the bloody shirt as proof.

Jorge received probation and had to do hours at A.A., which he both completed with no problem.

His arrest alerted INS of his illegal status, ICE put a hold on him and didn't release him right away even though his bond was paid. Because of this, Jorge couldn't go to work and lost his job as well.

Now after experiencing police brutality and losing his job they're trying to deport him to Mexico. To make things worse, he has no family in Mexico to go to. All of Jorge's relatives are here in the U.S.

Please help, something has to be done to stop this injustice to a hard working and educated person.
