HB-5679 is a recent bill that addresses the Sex offender scenarios. Since numerous discussions with our legislators have fallen on deft ears I write this note.
I have met with my senator and been in meetings trying to get a minor law change submitted for your approval:
1) Individual Consideration: All sex offenders have the right to have their situation reviewed either by Congressman or state official/Circuit Court.
2) After 30 years on SOR ( Sex Offender Registry) I can share better ideas for both the concerned citizens and those who have made an error and committed a sex crime.
3) My Senator said this is a hot potato. I understand that but instead of being concerned with politicing our justice system maybe we can sit down and put some real work on the table to adjust the SOR as it stands.
