GI Bill Education Quality Enhancement Act of 2015

Protect veterans ability to pay for fees relating to flight training using their Post 9/11 GI Bill.

As a veteran, I urge you to oppose House Resolution 476, the GI Bill Education Quality Enhancement Act of 2015. Veteran education benefits are the foundation that allows veterans to successfully transition back into civilian life. The federal government?s investment in the veterans educational assistance programs help veterans obtain education that will assist them in the future.

House Resolution 476 would eliminate the possibility for veterans to obtain flight training using their veterans? education benefits. The elimination of these benefits would affect many veterans who are currently enrolled in flight training degree paths at public institutions of higher education across the country. These degree paths allow veterans the opportunity to obtain a college degree that prepares them for a career as a professional pilot. These degrees require a large amount of flight training. Without assistance from the VA in the form of educational benefits, this career path would not be possible for most veterans.

The money invested in these flight training programs is redistributed to communities across the nation, including our district/state to create jobs and stimulates the local economy. At my school alone, we have eight flight schools that are teaching the technical and intellectual skills required for the aviation jobs of the future. Federal investment in our veterans? college education provides them with the ability to continue serving their nation.

Please, take the time to discuss this issue with Representative Wenstrup. Our veterans deserve the ability to explore whatever educational path they desire. Thank you for your time and your consideration. Please feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss this issue further.
