program that promotes and offers support to women that breastfeed, teaches good nutrition and offers nutritious food. Supports families by teaching good parenting as well as referrals to help meet their needs

The Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is a federal assistance program of the Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for healthcare and nutrition of low-income pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and infants and children under the age of five. Currently, 53% of all infants born in the US receive WIC. The eligibility requirement is a family income below 185% of the U.S. Poverty Income Guidelines. With Public Health Nurses, Registered Dieticians, and Behavioral Health Specialists, they provide families:



1. Supplemental nutritious foods

2. Nutrition education and counseling at WIC clinics

3. Screening and referrals to other health, welfare and social services
