Focus on Mental Illness, not Gun Control.

The problem is NOT a lack of gun control laws.

The first step in resolving a problem is correctly identifying the cause.

The American People do not want more gun control laws. The ones we have don?t do anything to stop the mounting carnage. The common thread is mental illness, not gun possession, and that?s where the focus should be. Trained, legal gun owners in the United States do not aim their guns at other people when they get a little angry.

If Dawn Hochsprung, the heroic principal of the Sandy Hook Elementary School, were armed with a gun when she confronted Adam Lanza, she may have died anyway, but 25 other people would still be alive.

Congress was in no hurry to reinstate the 1994 assault-weapons ban, which expired in 2004, because they knew it did little to reduce mass killings in our country.

Put your focus on gun training and mental illness awareness, and this carnage will not be repeated. What Congress is doing, at the Federal and State levels, is not working in States with the strict gun control.

Don?t use the Sandy Hook tragedy to promote more bad legislation. Focus on the cause, not the effect.
