Establish the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge as a National Monument

Help protect a great American wilderness from development

The National Arctic Wildlife Refuge was established to preserve unique wildlife, wilderness, recreational values, as well as provide opportunities for continued subsistence uses. This American wilderness is under pressure from large oil corporations to begin drilling and if we have learned anything from the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico this past summer we need to preserve our few remaining wonders of nature from further development and exploitation. As we approach the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge I feel it is now time for the President and Congress to designate ANWR as a national monument and prevent any development from ever occuring.
