Equal Rights for Property with a Heartbeat.
We need to change the wording of our laws when it comes to defining our definition of property. As it stands, domestic animals are part of that definition of 'property'. I believe this is the reason our animals are not protected satisfactorily. By segregating them into the group of 'property with a heartbeat', we can give our pets equal rights under the criminal justice system. Crimes regarding abuse and cruelty to domestic animals will carry the same punishment for similar crimes against humans.
