This position was NEVER meant to be lifetime career. If people don't vote, step out, and tell Americans YOU man up and vote for someone. -

I couldn't agree more. Why do the members of congress think the American people owe them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they were supposed to be working for US!! Term limits, not pension, etc., etc. These things listed above can't come fast enough!!REPORT COMMENTS

It's about time that Congress should start to serve the people instead of taking from the people and to uphold the Constitution as written by the founding fathers.REPORT COMMENTS

In order to right the direction we are headed we must ensure our leaders are working with the people's best interest in mind. Without limits and discilined guidelines that hold these people responsible for their actions as a body, they will continue to be nothing more than a group of self serving, whores to lobbyist, and special interests. The American gov will fall as did that of the Roman Empire.REPORT COMMENTS

It is time for "We the People" to take action and take our country back. When will we ALL start voting for the other candidate when we see an (I) for incumbent beside theie name? We can do this but it takes all of us to have the courage and political will to do it.REPORT COMMENTS

The must-pass spending bill pending in the Senate includes a little-noticed provision that would pay the family of the late Sen. Robert C. Byrd for the salary he would have commanded in the next fiscal year. The Senate handbook says that upon the death of a senator who had been serving in office, ?in the next appropriations bill, an item will be inserted for a gratuity to be paid to the widow(er) or other next- of-kin, in the amount of one-year?s compensation.? As a result, the bill calls for ?equal shares? of the late senator?s $193,400 salary to be split between Byrd?s seven children and grandchildren. The practice has been long followed by both parties and in both chambers, including in 2007 when the widows of Sen. Craig Thomas (R-Wyo.) and Rep. Paul Gillmor (R-Ohio) each received $165,200 for the salary that the two men would have received. Try that with the Military.REPORT COMMENTS
