Citizenship shouldn’t be a birthright

The 14th amendment's Citizenship Clause is outdated. It was adopted on July 9, 1868. Today is July 25, 2018 - after 240 years - we live in a much different political and economic climate. The U.S. constitution is not an ancient text like the ten commandments, but rather it is meant to be updated as time and circumstances change. Our circumstances have changed and the time has come for the adoption of revised Citizenship Clause to the 14th amendment, which should state "All persons born [whose parent is a U.S. citizen] or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

"The notion that simply being born within the geographical limits of the United States automatically confers U.S. citizenship is an absurdity — historically, constitutionally, philosophically and practically."
