CHURCHES AND COLLEGES SHOULD PAY TAXES

Churches and colleges that own multiple properties should pay taxes on them

Religious organizations, churches, colleges and private schools that own multiple properties, should lose tax-exempt status.

Many of these organizations and schools also rent out some of their properties, which is a form of income, yet they do not pay taxes on it. They also do not pay taxes on these properties. In addition, the amount charged for students to live in dormitories should be considered rental income, which should also be taxed accordingly.

The tax-exempt status needs to be changed, so any religious organizations, churches, schools and colleges no longer get a free ride. They have taken advantage of the federal and state governments, as well as the tax payers for years. As they raise fees and tuitions, these institutions continue to reap huge tax-free profits. This is unacceptable.

An investigation needs to be conducted,on these institutions, and their tax-exempt status must be modified.
