Church Women United Do More Than Just Pray: A Call to End Gun Violence

In the wake of the tragedies in Orlando, Oakland, Charleston, Aurora, Columbine, Kent, and Newtown, will enough finally be enough! The time is now to use our voices to stop gun violence and demand gun control laws. We are not alone, and our voices ar

Church Women United is a 75 year old racially, culturally, and theologically inclusive Christian women?s movement, that works for a world of peace and justice. We are guided by our religious impulse for love, and dedicated to a fight for justice and peace. Therefore, we demand common sense gun control laws that will prevent further mass shootings from happening!

That is why the members of Church Women United, urge you to enact legislation that*:

1. Requires a license for the owner of a gun;

2. A background check on all those persons purchasing guns;

3. And registration of all guns sold.

There have been too many deaths at the hand of guns in America. Too many mass shootings and killings. If we are truly to live into God?s message of love and peace, we must end the senseless acts of gun violence in America. Thank you for joining our mission as Church Women, and voicing out against gun violence!

*These requests are inspired from CWU?s 1981 National Social Policy on Gun Control.
