"Chronic pain. It's like mourning your own death without medication but you're alive"
My name is Gloria. I'm a chronic pain sufferer. Like the title of the petition, when you have chronic pain and you don't have your medication or you don't have the right amount of medication it's like mourning your own death but your alive. Your dignity, your career, your quality of life cease to exist. You're on this Earth but why if all you can do is lay in your bed or on your couch every day in agony what's the point. It's like living in a black hole you can't be a good wife, you can't be a good mother or grandmother or friend. You feel like you have nothing left to contribute to society. You're treated like a drug addict by your own doctors. Or your doctors of many years are retiring left and right so they don't have to deal with what's happening. I devoted my life to taking care of others. I was in the health field for over 30 years and unfortunately many injuries and surgeries later I ended up in chronic pain, and disabled. With the right dosage of medication I could have my life back as well as millions of others if only medical decisions were being made by medical professionals without fear that they will lose their licenses if they give proper care to their patients. Chronic pain patient suicides are up tremendously. There's a documentary called "Pain warriors". It kind of says it all. So if you haven't seen it maybe you should. Please help us don't work against us. Don't make us suffer needlessly. We need help and we need it now.
