Chronic Pain Is Not A Crime

Chronic pain sufferers are being targeted in the new war on addiction. Due to stricter laws and regulations, chronic pain sufferers are being denied their legal pain medication. Doctors and Pharmacists are being targeted by the DEA and fined for dispensing medication based on ambiguous amounts with no scientific evidence that it is harmful or not needed. These attacks on doctor patient relationships are causing chronic pain sufferers to find pain relief with illegal drugs or suicide. Families are being torn apart and lives shattered. Pain sufferers are an easy target for drug enforcement agencies because they are hard working American Citizens who neither have the time or money to fight back. The constant attack on pain sufferers is not going to stop drug abuse or overdoses caused by opiate addiction; in fact a recent study by the CDC has shown that since 2011 overdose deaths from prescription opiates have leveled off. Deaths from heroin and fentanyl, on the other hand, are rising fast. In several states where the drug crisis is particularly severe, including Rhode Island, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, fentanyl is now involved in over half of all overdose fatalities. Chronic pain sufferers use oxycontin and oxycodone for pain relief and are not the cause of this epidemic. The abuse they endure on a daily basis by denying the medication they need to live a normal productive life is inhumane. Please support chronic pain sufferers who only desire to live a pain free life.
