ChildSupport Reform

Child Support Laws are outdated. They are not up to date with our the realities of life.

I ask Congress to Support this Petition for Child Support Law Amendment. The Law gives the Custodial Parent rhe right to almost all Funds the Non Custodial Parent makes. The Non Custodial Parent paying out a certain percentage of their Net or Gross Pay towards the Custodial Parent. This is ACCUMULATED Net or Gross pay. Meaning if the Non Custodial Parent decides to pick up a second job. Child Support payments will be removed from that check as well. The Non Custodial parent cannot support themselves on Pennies received after all the payments for child support have been removed. It is un just to put Non Custodial parents in such burdens if they are willing to make at least a contribution to the raising of their child. The state of Illinois should adjust the law and make stricter guidelines to where these Child Support funds truly go to. I.e. Such as a bank account for the child. Paying for school clothes. Paying for School field trips. Daycare. The law just tells the Non Custodial Parent to pay up. Alot of times these Custodial Parents have Government benefits such as WIC, FOOD STAMPS, HOUSING ALLOWANCES, PAID MEDICAL and they still abuse of the Non Custodial Parent. All finances of the Custodial Parent should be put into play. Including ANY and ALL government assistance. There shouldn't be any jail time for a person making an effort to pay their child support. The Law hinders more families rather than bringing ant real kind of resolution to the table. It is unjust and cruel. Most of the times the Non Custodial Parent still has to pay added expenses for the child(ren) when they go to their Non Custodial Parent for a visit. It truly truly is a hardship for the Non Custodial Parent to keep up with their bills and bills of child support. I believe a system should be put in pace to assure the child is receiving such support. If both parents are separated that means AUTOMATICALLY you have to provide yourself (the parent) a roof over your head. or will you remain homeless?. So both parents have a home both parents share the children both parents should share the cost of Child expenses ONLY. What I am trying to say is.... set an amount per month that the Non Custodial Parent should contribute to the care and nurturing of their child and set up a system that will hold them accountable for that set amount. i.e I have to feed and clothed my child, take him or her out. on top of the money that was just spent being with ny child on visitation. I now also have to pay child support. When I just supported my child on MY parenting time. (This is child support!)My child had a bed to sleep in and a home to come to. My child rode in my car with me or I even paid for mine and my child's bus pass. These are expenses not taken into consideration by this Law. And I stand firm on my view. The Child Support Law is abuse and it allows any Custodial Parent to abuse the Non Custodial Parent time and time again. Child Support should not be a set amount paid to the Custodial P
