Child Support need to be counted as INCOME!

Why are you giving hard earned money away for free!

Non-custodial parent needs child support reform! We give a lot of hard earned income to the custodial parent who in return doesn?t have to count it as income! Social Security and disability benefits are counted as income and subjected to taxes, so why should child support be a free ride? There?s is no telling how the money is used and a custodial parent may collect thousands per month and yet be able to qualify for low income housing, medical care, VIC, and earned income credit. With most states planning to raise the minimal wage to $15 per hours, families will qualify for less public assistants, however most will request less hours to keep their benefits and the custodial parent will still benefit!

If a non-custodial parent was to get a part time job, so he or she can put food on the table, that income would be subject to child support garnishment as well.

However if child support was to be counted as income and treated in the same matter as alimony and was tax deductible, more non-custodial parents, may feel better about paying. The violence again the custodial parent and child will decease for the non-custodial parent would have something to gain as well. The bottom line is the system is out dated and most of us doesn?t know the laws and can?t afford a lawyer.
