Breed Discrimination
Dogs Unlawfully Judged And Denied Homes For Being a Breed Labeled "Agressive.
To All In Power;
I currently live on a dangerous street where I constantly fear for my safety. This was not my ideal place to live, but I was turned away from 50+ housing options in the state of Utah because my puppy happens to be a German Shepherd and therefore is inherently "aggressive" and is banned in numerous places because of that. It is completely unlawful to deny myself and countless others a safe, comfortable home because we have a member of our family that is labeled an "aggressive" breed. Discrimination against dogs like that is against the law in this state now, is it not? Those people are choosing to blame and label dogs, when they do not realize that it is ALWAYS the owner. My German Shepherd is the most loyal, loving, and friendly dog I have ever had. What right do these people have to tell me my dog is an "aggressive" breed and therefore cannot be allowed on the property? These people don?t know my dog. They merely make an assumption because of what kind of dog he is. What kind of world do we live in where it comes down to a either living in a safe place or me keeping my FAMILY. I shouldn?t have to choose.
Banning someone's pet because their breed is judged as "aggressive" is discriminating against their owner as well. Growing up, we are taught to not judge a book by its cover. That is exactly what is happening. People hear ?German Shepherd? and instantly say no. That is judging a book by its cover. Not all German Shepherds are bad dogs. Just as all people who own guns are not murderers. Discrimination is wrong, no matter if it is against a person or an animal. We are One Nation Under God, and God loves all of his creatures. People can put all the blame on the dogs for being an "aggressive" breed, but that will NEVER change the fact that it is ALWAYS the owner's fault. An entire breed is NOT to blame because people choose to be malicious.
This needs to be brought to our people's attention and I am prepared to do whatever is necessary to bring this issue to light. I come to asking for your support on this matter.
