Bill of Rights - Amend the 4th Amendment to Include a Family Pet!
Domestic Animals are treasured family members, they are NOT Property!
"Every subject has a right to be secure from all unreasonable searches, and seizures of his person, his houses, his papers, and all his possessions". - 4th Amendment
On 10/11/2014 Police unlawfully entered my yard, without consent. They immediately drew their weapons (Firearms, tasers). My dog entered our yard knowing someone was trespassing. My dog Bella is 22 months old, she is a small boned black Labrador. She proceeded to bark at the strangers, and their K-9.
The officers were looking for a man who two hours earlier struck his father.
A neighbor had advised I had a treehouse, where my CHILDREN play! No one saw him enter, the canine did not pick up a scent, and no one was in pursuit of the suspect. They entered with no knowledge of ours, did not identify themselves, and aimed for my dogs head, and fired because she was barking for them to leave.
By the grace of God, the officer missed! I later looked up the 4th Amendment to see that my "Papers" are protected, but my dog is equal to a piece of luggage! My living, breathing, sweet girl was worthless, and her life disposable to those officers! Yet, their Canine was special, and deserved protection! Where is my dogs protection for protecting her owner, and her property? Please Amend This Bill to enlist my domestic animal as family! She IS my family, and I am sure any decent pet owner will agree! Thank You!
