Bell Plan
This is a plan to help prevent future mass shootings
Due to recent and constant tragedies across this nation whether it is at our schools, movie theaters or malls it has left a key question on many people?s minds: How can we prevent these horrific events in the future? Many people have put forth their opinions and solutions toward answering this great question. Such answers as to further restrict the sale of guns or even to ban guns altogether. People are so quick to want to blame such things as the guns or the parents, video games and even mental illness. The sad truth is that there is inherent evil in people and it is no other than that person who is to blame. The suggestion that restricting gun laws further would be the answer does not hold much merit as in with the recent tragic killings in Newtown, Conn. because the evil-doer was denied to purchase a gun because he would not wait for the 14 day background check. Instead he stole the guns he used just like the killer in the recent Oregon mall shootings. The worst mass murders in America were not even done with guns, but homemade explosives such as the Oklahoma City Bombing and Bath school murder. On May 18th, 1927 the worst school killing in America took place killing 45 (38 of them elementary school children) people and wounding 58 in Bath Township, Michigan using 3 bombs that the killer made himself. On April 19th, 1995 a bomb went off killing 168 people and injuring 680. This bomb was created using things such as fertilizer that you can buy at any home improvement store. On September 11th, 2001 commercial airliners were taken over by 19 monsters with box cutters and used these planes to kill almost 3,000 people. Basically this tells us that evil-doers will commit evil deeds with the means that they see fit. Some people say if you ban all guns then this will get them out of criminal?s hands. These people seem to forget that drugs are also banned and illegal and that the government spends billions to attempt to uphold the law. As we know this has not stopped people from obtaining drugs just as the 18th Amendment to our Constitution failed to prevent the use of alcohol later calling for the ratification of the 21st Amendment to re-instate alcohol. Basically only the criminals will now have guns while innocent and honest people will have no way to defend themselves. There is a key element that connects most, if not all, of these terribly tragic events: They all happened within a ?Gun Free? zone (airplanes, schools, movie theaters, malls, ect.). Common sense tells us that criminals do not obey the rules or laws. This leaves the innocent at a disadvantage whenever they are in one of these ?Gun Free? zones. As we can see, none of these previous suggestions are a viable option to prevent mass murder which still leaves us with the original question stated earlier. One solution to the attacks on 9/11 which has been very successful was to place trained and concealed air marshals on various flights. This has helped prevent any futu
