Ask the Trump administration to end the punitive measures against the Palestinians

I am deeply concerned with the decisions that the Trump administration has taken on such strong and harsh levels. The measures taken against the people of Palestine are both disheartening and cruel policies that will have damaging implications.

The blatant disregard for Palestinian autonomy not only and obviously harms the Palestinians, but also shows that Trump’s administration does not believe in any sort of autonomy or legitimate representation of the Palestinian people.

As you are aware, following the Jerusalem declaration in December, the administration has taken the following steps that severely impact hundreds of thousands of Palestinian's.
1. Stopped all U.S. funding to U.N. Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA).

2. Trying to change the definition of a refugee which would cap the number to less than 1% of the refugees registered with UNRWA
*Reducing the number from over 5 million to 40,000.

3. Slashed $25 million of US assistance to the East Jerusalem Hospital Network.
*Due to many Israeli restrictions, many patients, such as those suffering from cancer, can only receive treatment in Jerusalem hospitals, as these treatment options are not available in other hospitals in the West Bank and Gaza.)

4. Rescinded $200 million in congressionally allocated humanitarian aid to Gaza and the West Bank
*By cutting these important aid programs, the Trump Administration will only exacerbate tensions between the Israelis and Palestinians, while further diminishing opportunities for lasting peace.

5. The Administration has failed to push back on Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s demolitions of Palestinian communities in the West Bank, like Khan Al Ahmar, and continues to build illegal settlements.

6. The administration closed the Washington DC-base office of the PLO Mission to the U.S., the sole legitimate representative to the Palestinian people.

The actions of the administration is also hurting 600,000 American Palestinians from exercising their rights to buy and sell property, invest in Palestine to help grow the economy, and help their family members who are suffering from these deep and severe drastic measures.

Please take the appropriate actions necessary to end these punitive measures.

Please request the Congressional Research Service (CRS) investigate and report on the ramifications that such measures will cause.

We thank you in advance for reading and hope your attention will bring a positive change.

Sincerely,
