Stop Internet Sex Stings
Police Internet sex stings are entrapment. Internet sex stings are unconstitutional. Police officers posing as minors on adult dating websites is absurd. It is destroying the lives of innocent people. My 30 year old brother was arrested November 12, 2017 after communicating with who he was led to believe was an 18 year old girl named Catie S. on a social media dating site called Tagged. When you register for Tagged you legally agree that you are 18 or older and that you can't misrepresent your identity or impersonate someone else. However, the person wasn't real, but a cop setting him up. People meet and get married from dating sites all the time, this is a norm for our society. You should not have to worry about being set up by someone pretending to be a kid when you are clearly going on a dating site to talk to someone 18 years or older because that’s the website terms. He was one month away from graduating and earning his Master’s degree in history; however, this will not happen. This whole situation has caused great sorrow and grief for my family. My brother was raised in a Christian home and he was a productive member of our community. He has never been in trouble EVER. During this sting they arrested 20 other men who were on various other sites. Law enforcement needs to be banned from all chatroom's and dating sites on the internet enticing people to go into their trap. Unless you are portraying the age you intend to trap someone with it doesn't need to be allowed. You cannot tell someone you are one age then switch it up to trap them. Internet sex stings are entrapment its direct violation of our constitutional rights and our 1st amendment rights pardon. In Georgia, O.C.G.A. §16-3-25 -A person is not guilty of a crime if, by entrapment, his conduct is induced or solicited by a government officer or employee, or agent of either, for the purpose of obtaining evidence to be used in prosecuting the person for the commission of the crime. Entrapment exists when the plan to commit a crime originated with a government officer or employee and he, by undue persuasion, incitement, or deceitful means, induced the accused to commit the act, which the accused would not have committed except for the conduct of such officer. The theory behind entrapment defense is to deter government conduct that entices innocent persons to break the law.
Please do something about this and stop ruining innocent peoples lives. There are people that are out here sexually assault under age kids for real yet our law enforcement feels they need to set people up.
