Students sign onto these exorbitant loans as one of their very first major decisions in their lives, naive and mislead by the reassurance that a viable job awaits them after graduation. Colleges promise job placement assistance after graduation. These are only two examples of breach of contract performed by Bankrupt colleges, assistance is denied and no entry level job pays enough to make the months payments on these loans. All students who have graduated from colleges, that have closed due to bankruptcy, deserve loan forgiveness immediately. The loan conditions of these contracts have not been upheld by both parties, namely the colleges. The negligence on the part of the colleges is bankrupting our youth before they ever had a chance.

I would love to have my own place. I would love to own a home one day. I am a school guidance counselor with two masters degrees and I am a slave. Something needs to be done. I went to graduate school because I love my job. I am a public servant. I am helping the youth of today become better citizens and make better decisions. Why should I be a slave and pay a heavy price for that?

Would love to have a life again and not be a slave to my debt that I would have never taken out if I knew what I knew today. Things like the school I was going to was being investigated for fraud, and other things. The school and the Loan company working together to cheat out students from a future and charging way to much for a degree that basically black lists you from the industry. My passion is gone , my dream is gone, all i would like to do is to move ahead and maybe try at school again. But it seems we are the land of not giving second chances or the land of the free as you all would like us to believe.

I have no dreams of owning a house, having any children, or even having a savings account large enough to fall back on in hard times, because a large portion of my income goes towards student loans that only increase. I accrued them pursuing a dream at an accredited institution that understated the amount I would owe by about $30,000 and provided outdated learning material, links to online tutorials, and brief overviews of critical skills needed in my desired industry. Not one of my classmates have obtained a job in the industry. Our college institution is better kept off our resumes because of the poor reputation its graduates have. I am still in the job I had while attending school. I would have been better off had I never gone. In the meantime, I make my monthly payments hoping that one day there will be some relief to all of us students that were lured in with false stats and promises, to be nothing more than financial aid dairy cows for our schools. Please help.

My husband and I have been severely impacted by our student loan debt after attending shady EDMC for profit college The Art Institute of NY. Since after completion and with no job in our studied field and barely making 20k a year each we lived and still live paycheck to paycheck. We are unable to to even qualify for an apartment due to our ruined credit. Despite living under our means we were still unable to afford the cost of loan monthly payments. Filing for bankruptcy would be a reprieve from the Daily stress and depression we constantly face. Students deserve to be able to find relief when student debt astronomical and so directly affects someone's life. Not every borrower is irresponsible or lazy, in the same way not every person raking up thousands upon thousands of dollars of credit card debt is. These absurd debts from shady institutions cripple our country, until justice is found for students through cancelation of fraud, we should be able to explore bankruptcy in the same way anyone else has.

I would love for loans from fraud EDMC (AiCharlotte) to be gone. If my degree is worth nothing than I shouldn't have to pay for it.

It's time to protect the people of this company and not the lending companies, banks, schools and corporations. They are protected, can file for bankruptcy and basically get away Scott free even when it's proven they have purposely misled borrowers and have helped bring down the middle class.

These debts, esp those from fraud based for profit schools should be cancelled. At the very least, bankruptcy protection laws should be reinstated for them so that the heavily affected have a means of getting out from under their crushing debt. There is no reason, other than outright greed, that they were removed in the first place.

Corrupt predatory for profit schools are allowed to declare bankruptcy, but defrauded students unable to afford shelter, food and a means to live cannot.

We made an effort to play by the rules, to do it the right way, to make ourselves better educated and to be productive members of society. Why are we the ones who are penalized?

Defaulted student loans are a trillion-and-a-half- dollars-per-year profitable business for the government. You bailed out the very banks that paid kickbacks to universities to steer students toward them and their unconscionable practices. If a billionaire like Donald Trump can file bankruptcy four times for his bad business decisions...tell me why a citizen, who made the good decision to go to school to better him or herself does not have that right? Please help students, the hope of our future, and cosponsor H.R. 449.
