Stop disguised bonded labor as H1B visa

Increase in H1 B quota request is a result of Greedy companies trying to exploit lowly paid foreign workers. There is clear evidence, IT, Engineering professional salaries have not increased comparably with Inflation. Besides lot of tech jobs shipped overseas, there is dwindling Engineering, IT opportunities in U.S. soil.



on the other side, H1B employees face innumerable problems right from the day they land in the US. There is no regulatory body to oversee the well being of the human being (the H1B employee). They are at the mercy of the employer and 99% of the time, the employer exploits the employee through body-shopping.



H1B can only be sponsored by Employers.

Almost all employers exploit the clause "Companies could not find equivalent qualified U.S.Citizens or Permanent Residents".

Even Govt Accountability office thinks there needs to be reform, but why increase quota when there is inherent flaw.



Employer sponsored H1b Visa is modern bonded labor. Because H1B work permit is restricted to single employer and the employee cannot use the same H1B to work for any other employer.

Employee has an option for H1B transfer but that comes with a risk for rejection, thus limiting his escape route from current H1B sponsor.



The work culture at many H1B sponsoring companies are bad, since they are treated lowly by H1B employers. employee welfare, employee choice of work discipline are not cared. All H1B sponsors care about is billable time. Most H1B employee sacrifice their weekends and personal time to meet high expectations from their employers. Relocation to client locations are not employee's choice, even if it happens frequently. Difference in what H1B employee gets paid versus what Client is billing is very high compared to a Green Card employee or Citizen.



H1B visa terms have to be changed to avoid bonded laborer situation. Increasing the quota is giving H1B employers more power to exploit more foreign workers.



U.S.A is projected as a just and free country in foreign lands. It is very ironic that the USCIS is providing avenues for H1B employers to practice bonded labor type terms.
