I sign this petition for my father and his brother who suffered from WWII before there was a name for their anxiety and depression. My uncle died walking the streets. My father tried to hide his anxiety all his life so ashamed. Please don't let other people suffer this way. Two generations later PTSD is still hurting our family because no one was helped. It doesn't go away when the soilder dies. He passes its effects on to his children and they to theirs. Lets stop PTSD as soon as we can.Sep 11th, 2011Someone from Newark, CA writes:

i SUFFER FROM PTSD...As a doctor/author described it: an injury to the soul. Me, I lost a 20 yr marriage, and 18 yr job,and lived thru 9/11...all in 6 months time....Dont remember much of last 10 yrs as I was left alone to raise 3 children alone.....Most dont get through even one of my first two...especially with devastated children and NO support (family 1200 miles away) THEN seeing 2 of my 3 children go to war because of 9-11 ALSO: I Have a soldier daughter who has been and still is suffering from PTSD/TBI from a 15 month tour of driving transport across Iraq/Kuwait AND OVER an IED.....walking on eggshells becomes the norm. Civilians need to know WHAT it is and Military Families need to be shown ways to cope...Too many have gone to war in the last decade alone....TRAUMA is the KEY word....Happens graphically to soldiers in combat....and to those trying to stay strong and keep up the house and family while praying for a good outcome....WE NEED AWARENESS!REPORT COMMENTS

There is a National PTSD Awareness Month, it's in its 2nd Year! Google it folks. I am a combat vet w/PTSD, the VA had this all over their website with each week dedicated to educate the pubic. The Senate approved an awareness day 2 years ago.REPORT COMMENTS
