Ban cat declawing in USA
It's Cruel & Unusual amputation
As outlined in www.pawproject.org , and NOT supported by vet. associations nor Humane societies, it's inhumane, cruel, barbaric, not a manicure, it's amputation of the bone down to the 1st knuckle,
cats are then persecuted for having trouble using the litter box, not digging as well, end up more often in kill shelters & county pounds, have shorter life spans, their can be bone protrusions in later life, trouble walking & jumping, cannot use their scratching posts made of sisal rope, cannot scratch their ears, cannot defend themselves against predators, cannot scratch against a flea, it's already illegal in 22 other countries, including Austria, cannot get down a tree as well, one cat actually scratched a home invader & they caught the intruder down the block , the police with scratches on his face, the cat jumped off the scratching post by the door, some declawed cats are persecuted for "biting' more as they cannot ward off with claws, cats are more important than furniture being scratched, it's surgery they are kept overnight and knocked out, and cannot use cat litter sand in the wounds for at least a week on recovery, already illegal in seven California cities , including San Francisco.
