Seeking justice for the murder of Palestinian-American Al Jazeera Journalist Shireen Abu Akleh

Shireen Abu Akleh, an iconic veteran journalist, was brutally killed on May 11th by snipers of the Israeli Occupation Forces in Occupied Palestine. Shireen Abu Akleh, a Palestinian American journalist for Aljazeera was deliberately murdered in the presence of other peer journalists- all like Shireen, clearly labeled in press vests and helmets, as they covered the Israeli Occupation Forces raid on the Palestinian refugee camp in Jenin. Other journalists accompanying Shireen were also targeted by Israeli snipers and captured on video Shireen’s outrageous murder. Shireen was cherished by Palestinians and millions around the world, and inspired women to become journalists, as she spent over 20 years exposing the truth and reporting on Israel’s brutality and war crimes against the Palestinian people, many similar to the crime that ended her life. Unless Israel is held firmly accountable for its actions, it will continue to oppress and terrorize the Palestinian people, and trivialize International law and universal conventions. U.S. military aid to Israel should be immediately stopped, as Israel uses our tax money to carry out atrocities. As your constituent, I urge you to get justice for Shireen who was an American Citizen. I urge you, President Biden, Secretary of State Blinken, U.S. Department of Justice, the entire Biden Administration and the U.S. government to demand a thorough independent international investigation into the horrific death of Shireen, a Palestinian American. Israel must not be allowed to investigate itself. It is time that the U.S. stands up for Palestinian rights. Sincerely,
