I retired after 23 years and was making a living and taking care of my families needs so I had no time for college. Now I am fully retired and would love to use my benefits to take business courses and start my own home business. But my benefits expired in 2008 while I was firmly planted in keeping my family afloat! Not fair, I earned them for 23 years of service and they should not expire especially for retirees!!!Jan 1st, 2016Someone from Olympia, WA signed.

While the government spend $2 Trillion Dollars on Immigration Amnesty, it down played the plight of the veterans. The money should be wisely spend on veterans like ourselves not to immigrants who broke the law just to get here.REPORT COMMENTS

It is an absolute travesty that veterans are being turned away from the GI Bill education assistance 10-15 years after separation. Lots of vets are in a tailspin for many years while struggling to transition back to civilian life after military service, making education attendance extremely challenging. Most Americans are willing to stand up for so many social initiatives, but where are they on the important issue of supporting veterans by removing the arbitrary GI Bill expiration limitations? Please, let's remove GI Bill delimiting dates immediately.REPORT COMMENTS

It's disgusting that we veterans have put our lives on the line for this country, many of us having gone to war zones and now that we have discharged and 10 years has passed we cannot collect on our GI funds. Shame on U.S. government for not taking care of its soldiers...Shame!!!REPORT COMMENTS

Not every service member has the chance to get back to school right after discharge from service due to many factors. Service members should either be able to receive their entitled 36 months at any time or have the $1200 contribution returned to them.REPORT COMMENTS

I served honorably in the Air Force from 1985-1995. I separated under SSB because of force reduction. I have not had the opportunity of using my GI benefits until recently, but they are expired and not available any longer. It is unjust that I served during war (desert storm, desert shield) for our country honorably, put in 9 a half years, paid for my GI Bill and can't use it. I can't even convert it to the new post 9/11 GI Bill. There should be NO time limit on when I use ANY of my veteran benefits. NONE!REPORT COMMENTS

I served honorably in the Navy from 1992-1996. I have taken advantage of using my GI benefits, but they expired before I could finish my B.S., so I am now burdened with paying back tens of thousands of dollars in student loans. It is an injustice to those of us that have served our country honorably to put a 10 year limit on our GI Bill benefits while back around 1995, a bill was passed that capped Medicaid benefits to 36 months with no time limit. Imagine, non tax-payers receiving free money can receive their alloted benefits with NO time limit.REPORT COMMENTS
