All peoples need to be recognized and treated like human beings. The USA needs to honor Native American's by honoring our treaties with them and provide them the same rights and freedoms that all people should have. As my president and elected official(s) I ask that you "Sign this Now".

Indigenous people of the world are at the heart of any solutions we have for survival of humans. How many are listening to them?

what has been done to the indegenious people of north america should be called ethnic cleansing by our ancestors and continues today. it is sad that the home of the free has done this and shoved it under the rug. admit your mistakes and horrible treatment of them.

On November 5, 2009 at a historic summit in Washington, DC hosted by President Barack Obama, Chairman Joe Kennedy - Timbisha Shoshone of the Western Shoshone Nation, delivered a message on behalf of the Nations and Pueblos of Indigenous Peoples of North America calling for immediate action by the present US administration in affirmation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). This call to implement the UNDRIP after centuries of colonization and injustice, institutes a new systemic standard that allows for complementary readjustment among entities of the government states and the Nations and Pueblos of Indigenous Peoples globally, normalizing peaceful relations and creating partnerships based on mutual respect and cooperation. In support of this initiative of the Indigenous Peoples of North America, and in hopes that the adoption of the UNDRIP by the US will result in a much needed restoration of dignity and respect for the US in terms of both domestic and international policies regarding Indigenous Peoples, we urge your immediate attention and positive action on this issue. We cannot expect anything less from our government, if we expect to live up to the principles being the land of the free, and home of the braves. Thank you for your kind attention to this timely issue. Sincerely, A.Wenkert

Shame on you if you keep on beeing the only Country who are not sign these Papers. You need to take care of your indigenous people. Or do you think the people for example in Pine Ridge live in a good standard??? Terrible if you think they do. Obama will have my respect if he lives without electric and sleeping in a house where the rain drops on his head!!!

Certainly a step in the right direction. In our process of Indigenous Rights comes healing and decolonization. Why must we look to the oppressors for rights and validation? There is much to be learned from Mahatma Gandhi. He taught that the power still lies within the people. Its not about taking its about not giving away your power.
